The 2015 OBTC Board of Directors election is coming up!  Since you are an OBTC member, you already play an active role in this community and we THANK YOU for doing that – but if you would like to take your community involvement to the next level, here’s a great opportunity.  By being a Board Director, you can be an elected voice in communicating the views and needs of Ocean Beach to government agencies, be at the forefront of community discussions, take action on local issues and be a leader in promoting the general betterment of OB.

There are 15 seats on the Ocean Beach Town Council Board of Directors and OBTC members elect Board Directors for two-year terms.  Half of the Board stands for election every year.  This year, 8 seats are up for election.

If you would like to be considered for candidacy, please submit your Candidate Statement stating your reasons for wanting to join the OBTC Board and describing any relevant experience or skills to info@obtowncouncil.org by Monday, August 24th.  Please put “Candidate Statement” in the subject line of the email.  Statements can be submitted by regular mail, as well, and must be received by Monday, August 24th, 2015. Mail your statement to OBTC Election Committee, P.O. Box 7225, San Diego, CA 92167. Your statement will then be shared with all OBTC members during our election voting period.

Eligible candidates for the OBTC Board of Directors must be over 18 years of age, already be a paid-in-full OBTC member ($20 annual dues are current and paid), and either live, work, own property, or operate a business in the Ocean Beach 92107 zip code.

Directors are obligated to attend two meetings each month (second Tuesday and fourth Wednesdays), and should expect to participate on OBTC committees and work at the various events and activities of the OBTC throughout the year, such as the Holiday Parade, Food and Toy Drive, Pier Pancake Breakfast, etc. Please review our OBTC Bylaws for additional information.

Voting for this election will take place from Friday, August 28th to Monday, September 7th.  All candidates will be invited to the regularly scheduled open OBTC meeting to address the community and Board on August 26th, 2015.  The term of office for newly elected Board Members will start at the Board Meeting on October 13th, 2015.

Thank you again for being a part of the Ocean Beach Town Council and taking part in keeping this community the best beach town in San Diego!

  1. Greetings All,

I would like to run for one of the upcoming vacant seats on the OBTC Board.
I am aware that there are several requirements, I just want to make sure that I have all the bases covered.
I believe my dues are up to date, but please double check for me.
Besides the Candidate Statement, I recall being told that there was one other document/submission required; I cannot recall what it is nor can I find reference to it on the OBTC website.
And finally, I do not appear to have saved the note that I sent to the Board when seeking to fill the vacant seat to which Kevin was eventually appointed; if you could bounce that back to me that would be swell.

    Thanks for the assist!

  2. I was just taking a last look at this page to make sure I didn’t miss anything and noticed that I had.
The last sentence above seems a bit modest–surely we are the best beach town in San Diego, but just San Diego?!?!
