The Ocean Beach Town Council joined Surfrider Foundation San Diego County Chapter at City Hall to encourage our policymakers to pass a plastic bag ban.
With the state ban on hold until at least November 2016, it’s time for the City of San Diego to pass their own.
Thank you to Innovations Academy, staff and students, for showing up to this morning’s San Diego City Council meeting and expressing their concern about plastic pollution and support for a San Diego plastic bag ban. One of the 4th graders testified to City Council, “be Fantastic, cut the plastic!” 72 students were in attendance, along with two representatives from Surfrider Foundation and former District 2 Councilmember Ed Harris.
The mayor’s office stated that that the process necessary to get a vote to City Council could be completed in about 2 months.
Let’s ban the bag San Diego!
